Preview: Madam Ram Starring Toni Collette

March 3, 2025·36 min·3 clips
A dead former showgirl, accused of murdering her husband to inherit his NFL team, recounts her story from beyond the grave.
The episode opens with Georgia narrating from her own gravesite in 2024, where a resentful LA fan is urinating on her tombstone. She introduces herself as a former showgirl who rose to own a Super Bowl-winning NFL team and insists she has never had her story told correctly. She frames the narrative as her corrective account, inviting the listener to judge her. The story then jumps back to April 2, 1979, when news breaks that Carol Rosenblum, owner of the LA Rams, has drowned off the coast of Florida. Georgia sits in their vacation home, visibly distraught, attended by her personal assistant Mel. She presses Mel about Carol's state of mind and any overheard conversations about the will, and then receives a call from Carol's attorney Edward Hoogstraten, who tells her to buckle up because the will contains unexpected news. Georgia is left anxious and shaken. She holds a small Florida ceremony before arranging an enormous Hollywood wake in Bel Air, which she orchestrates as a lavish social event with nine eulogists, a comedian roast, and her own singing performance. Guests include Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart, Warren Beatty, and Diane Keaton. Her vocal coach Dominic Frontiero escorts her to the event. Steve Rosenblum attends the wake furious, tells a stranger he does not believe his father's death was accidental, and confronts Georgia briefly before leaving. At the formal will reading weeks later, attorney Hoogstraten reveals that Carol left 70% ownership of the Rams to Georgia and 30% split among his five children, meaning Steve receives only 6% while working under his stepmother's authority. Steve explodes, insists the will has been altered, and accuses Georgia of scheming. He singles out Mel for questioning, suggesting she knows something about Carol's death. Georgia dismisses him and the episode ends with Steve's open threat that Georgia does not know what is coming.

As heard by us

A glossy sports fable where the shine keeps catching on something dark.

Madam Ram turns the 2000 Super Bowl kickoff into a jittery study of power, vanity, and public myth. It lets a woman seem to own the room before she has even settled into it, then folds in the ceremony, the sideline pageantry, and the shadow of her husband's death until glamour…
