2.11 Ted | A Buffy the Vampire Slayer Podcast

November 29, 2025·1 hr 27 min·5 clips
The hosts and live audience erupt over the most satisfying moment in Buffy season two: Ted hits first and Buffy destroys him.
The live-room energy is already in the walls. Kristen sets up the Burlington recording with the right amount of practical chaos: Ricardo the five-and-a-half-foot skeleton is onstage, Alba Daza's bigger Ted conversation has to wait because the audio is misbehaving, and the room needs the seating chart in its head. Then Ted starts ruining snacks. The hosts sit with the kitchen mini-pizzas, mini-golf, and the tiny moral snag of Buffy cheating at a game she never wanted to play. They also keep fixing the sound effects. A ball does not clink, apparently. It plunks, or maybe plucks, and the room is locked in enough for that to matter. Act two gets the louder reaction. Joyce is being a terrible mom, Willow is being a cyber detective, Buffy is snooping with remarkable restraint, and Ted is deep in creep mode. Then the stairs happen. The recap gives the fall a blunt little whoops, but the sharper tension is Xander and Willow still telling Buffy to calm down. They are being drugged, which turns into its own strange detour because the fake drug seems to make people agreeable in every direction. Willow backs Ted and investigates him. That contradiction sends the hosts toward Alba's separate conversation, where they had wondered what a real mood-altering drug might do here. They do not pretend to know more than they know, so the joke becomes everyone trying to reason through a made-up substance. Ted thinks right is right, and that line lands colder than the jump scare framing. Buffy stays at the center. Even when the riff wanders into plastic mini-golf reservoirs, hotness, and whether anyone is cool, the point keeps coming back to how badly everyone reads her. The ad break is beside the point. The heart is the live, sideways act-two recap: quick jokes, sharp character judgment, and real affection for a deeply uncomfortable Buffy hour.

As heard by us

A loose, funny live rewatch that turns Ted's creepiness, mini-golf, and drugged agreeability into lively Buffy talk.

Buffering the Vampire Slayer takes "Ted" to a live room at Higher Ground in Burlington, with Kristen and Jenny joined, in spirit and stage logistics, by Ricardo, their five-and-a-half-foot skeleton.
