Chapter 7 | Messy

February 4, 2026·39 min·3 clips
Marika Wilson describes being charged with attempted murder at age 20 for a crime she says she didn't commit.
A man opens the scene. At a mailbox, the journalists tell George Holloway they are reporting on a case and looking for information about Violet Ellison. He listens, then gives a blunt read: vindictive, too involved in business that is not hers. Then he brings them inside. In the living room, George says Violet is not someone to trust. Say something near her, he warns, and it may come back twisted. Stay away from her, he says. In his version, trouble follows. The web gets messy fast. George says he met Violet through his ex-girlfriend, Sharon, who had dated Violet's son, Reginald Smith, known as Red. After Sharon and Red split up, George says Sharon stayed friendly with Violet, and Violet wanted Sharon back with Red. That put George in the way. He does not dress up his own part: the relationship with Sharon was volatile, she had a protective order against him, and one argument happened in person anyway. George says he left afterward. Sharon called police. Violet later testified that she heard and saw the argument firsthand. George says no, she got there only after police arrived. The episode stays in that uncomfortable tangle before turning toward courage next time.
