KBI agents interrogated Tamara Caldwell for nine to ten hours at a hotel, with no attorney present, yelling at her while she wept.

The scene turns on Venetia. For seven years, she told police she did not see Jessica after they said goodbye that Saturday night in 2000. Now her account changes. After at least two separate days of KBI interrogations, her story starts to match parts of Victoria's version of the night. Venetia is described as slumped in her chair, exhausted and shrunken, trying to answer under pressure. The questioning leaves her little room. When she first says Tamra hit Jessica, the agents keep pushing until the answer becomes Quincy. Certainty gets pulled into place. She eventually says the group did drugs, took Jessica to Jeff's house, and raped her there. The agents want more. Their questions move beyond the allegation and into graphic specifics about Jessica's body. That might make sense in a case where the physical evidence pointed that way. This case does not. The narration says there was no evidence of rape or sexual assault on Jessica's body, especially no semen. The inconsistencies pile up. Venetia cannot confidently say whether Quincy, Jeff, or Tamra struck Jessica with an object. Victoria says something else: Quincy hit Jessica in the head with a mini baseball bat while they were in the car.
