193 | My Secrets to Financial Stability in Business | Business Budget With Me

·23 min·30 clips
Jenzea opens Market Scale Grow with a Saturday strategy session. She says she has just been paid $1,500 by a client. She uses that payment to show how she budgets money that comes into her business. Although she usually talks Facebook ads and marketing strategy, this one is a business-budgeting episode. She says the Profit First method works well for how her brain thinks. She also uses YNAB, or You Need a Budget. She recommends it strongly. She uses it for both personal life and business bookkeeping. When money comes in, she logs it in YNAB first. She then splits the money into four parts. The episode spends most of its time on the savings side of that system. She keeps a monthly expenses group and tries to build a buffer inside it. That buffer can cover about one month of expenses, which she pegs at roughly $250. She also saves about $1,000 for professional development. Her current balance there is $92.18 after a course purchase in December. She keeps an annual payment pool for tools and subscriptions she pays once a year. Squarespace, Stubsado, Flowdesk, and Loom are some of the services she names. She also maintains an outsourcing fund with at least a month of contractor costs. That gives her room to give 30 days' notice if a working relationship ends, and she keeps a $500 slush fund for anything else that comes up. She closes by talking directly to solo operators with uneven client work and by inviting listeners to subscribe and review.
