Anglican Unscripted 951 - Storming Churches

January 25, 2026·47 min·3 clips
The ACNA's safeguarding director quits after less than a year, pushed out by a system that saw her as a shield against victims.
Episode 951 starts with a sore throat. Kevin gives the date, brings in George, and turns his throat trouble into the kind of loose opening banter Anglican Unscripted likes before the church fight begins. George is having the better day. He talks sunshine, Florida-cold weather, and the Manatee Festival, then the conversation slides back into Anglican trouble. The mood changes quickly. The main argument is that some clergy have become political actors first and pastors much later, if at all. George says it plainly: political agitation and holiness pull in opposite directions, and he has no patience for church leaders looking for salvation through elite approval. Kevin does not sand down the edge. He says Christian civil unrest can be righteous, but only when it serves the church instead of a partisan grudge. Selective outrage gets under his skin. His complaint is that leaders ignored similar behavior under one administration, then suddenly found moral urgency when the person they despise was involved. The theology gets sharp here. George calls the performance cheap grace, full of concern and light on Jesus. The church violence backdrop is doing real work too. They talk about nervous reactions in churches after memories of a shooting, disorder, and people running or screaming in sacred spaces. Their point is not bland calm. It is that priests, bishops, and ministers who swap gospel work for political agitation leave frightened people without the care they came for. The ending turns dry and procedural. Kevin explains his attempts to get an interview with Bishop Dobbs through CNA contacts, only to be asked twice to send questions first. He is done with the game. The Charlie Brown line turns the exchange into a small joke about institutional dodging before the usual signoff.
