Somerset clinches Vitality Blast 2023 with a magnificent catch by Tom Cola-Cadmore off Daniel Sams.

Always Look on the Bright Side of Life discusses Somerset's Vitality Blast 2023 success alongside deeper analysis of squad management challenges. The podcast features Ian Shepard with cricket commentator Anthony Gibson, former Essex bowler Don Topley, and fellow enthusiasts analyzing not just match results but strategic decisions around batting order, bowling selection, and talent development. A central tension emerges: Somerset's home record when batting first far exceeds their results when bowling first, yet they consistently choose to bowl. The episode explores why released Somerset players like Ned Leonard and Sonny Baker find greater success elsewhere, highlighting systemic squad development issues affecting English county cricket's depth in pace bowling.
