Ep. 224 - New from John Deere: Understanding Operations Center™ PRO Service

·24 min·1 clip
Jeff says customers can replace an ECU or transmission controller themselves and use Pro Service to install new software.
Tony Kramer opens the show by welcoming Larry Herman and Jeff back to discuss Operations Center Pro Service. Larry explains that he works in telematics support at RDO Equipment on the connected support team, and that his background is centered on helping customers move from JDLink-era access into the modern tools and data available through Operations Center. Jeff joins the conversation to help break down John Deere's new service tool. The discussion keeps circling back to what the platform actually does for real operations, not just how it is branded. A key point is that Pro Service is not limited to machines with telematics. Older machines can be added into a customer's Operations Center so they can see and use more information. Larry points to an older 544E loader as the kind of machine that can still be brought in. Once that happens, the customer has more data and more access than they would without the connection. The guests also note that the system reaches across John Deere's full equipment lineup, including ag machines, construction equipment, turf equipment, and utility machines. Tony then shifts to staff access. A service shop can add technicians as staff members inside the system. Those users create their own usernames and passwords. Access can be set at different levels, so a technician does not need full admin rights to be useful. Even with limited permissions, they can still reach Pro Service and other maintenance tools. The conversation also touches Equipment Mobile. Technicians can use it to pull maintenance lists right in the app. There is also an offline version they can download when they need the details without being connected. By the end, the episode frames Operations Center Pro Service as a central hub for helping customers service their own equipment in a more organized way. Tony closes by saying he feels ready to talk about it with customers, points listeners to their local office or John Deere dealer for more help, and the show ends with the usual subscribe, review, and follow reminders.

A practical look at who can use Operations Center PRO Service and how it fits mixed fleets.

John Deere's Operations Center PRO Service comes across less like a product pitch and more like a question of access: who can log in, what they can see, and how far one platform can stretch across connected and unconnected machines.
