Thoughts from the Edge: Navigating the turbulent seas of the incoming year with grace and courage (Manda solo)

December 31, 2025·47 min·3 clips
London is on the same latitude as Kiev and Moscow — if AMOC collapses, minus-30 winters would break UK water infrastructure within a week.
The year ends with Amanda alone. A guest has dropped out, and she does not try to paper over the gap. She uses the quiet to speak straight to the people still listening: warmly, urgently, and with a kind of clear-eyed tenderness. She starts with thanks. The gratitude matters, because she keeps circling back to the odd closeness of this work: listeners sending thoughts, conversations carrying on, ideas landing in unexpected places across the year. The tone is soft but not cosy. She wants to look back, look ahead, and leave a few doors open without pretending she knows what is behind them. The pressure is real. Another world is still possible, she says in effect, but only if enough people help lay foundations worth passing on. From there, she turns to systems. Democracy, economics, currencies, regenerative farming, biomimicry, and education are not separate curiosities here. They are pieces of a future that no single guest or theory can deliver in one neat package. She wants more ideas in circulation, and the podcast is her way of bringing those ideas into contact, especially from people working at the edge of interbecoming. Then the image gets simpler and sharper. Each idea is a different-colored Lego brick. The work is connecting them into designs that can actually hold. MADE gives her the frame: motivation, agency, direction, and empowerment. Without those, a new narrative leaves people frozen. The bleakest passage is about captivity. She pictures each person shut in a concrete box, chained to a hamster wheel, running hard just to stay still. That effort feeds the old system. Predatory capitalism becomes a death cult, a superorganism, a Moloch, and something people are tangled up in whether they want to be or not. Still, she asks listeners to put down shame. The point is not to drown in complicity. It is to stop feeding the game and start making the conditions for something else. She ends where she began: with thanks for the attention, the conversations, and the shared work of peeling back one more layer without knowing exactly where it leads.
