Todd and Craig start by framing the show as another tribute stop. They do it for two people, Ed Gale and Mark Snow, which gives them room to talk through acting and composing legacies before they really lock onto the movie. Gale gets the quick Child's Play nod. Snow gets more attention because his TV credits are everywhere, and they linger on how the X-Files theme became one of those songs people recognize before they know his name. Pure Moods also gets mentioned. From there, the movie talk settles into the show’s usual loose, observant rhythm. The excavation setup comes first. There is a weird deep pool near the house, and they keep trying to sort out what kind of drainage or sump-pump situation it might be. Later, the electricity goes out and the dad heads down toward the fuse box area. The movie keeps throwing in cat scares, and they find the repeated cat jumps especially funny. When the dad ends up on the floor near the pool, the body that shoots out is clearly a dummy, and they cannot stop noticing how wrong it looks. It is one of those effects that is so clumsy it starts becoming part of the fun. They also point out that getting to the first real death takes a while. The archaeologists in the opening are already dead, so the movie is not really waiting as long as it first seems. That delay gives the review time to build irritation and amusement at the same time. Rip Torn's professor Resnick thread adds another layer. He shows up as the academic presence behind the excavation, checks the photos, and realizes the site is not Mayan. Instead it is tied to the Sansia tribe or whatever the movie is calling it, which sends the conversation into another one of those side routes the show likes to follow. The whole thing stays blunt, amused, and a little puzzled. Todd and Craig keep coming back to the same question: how did this movie get so weird, and why does it take so long to get where it is going?
